 IKGPTU JMC Department organized Extension lecture on Print & New Media

  • Noted Journalist Rajeev Bhaskar delivered his views with practical experiences

The Journalism and Mass Communication department of IK Gujral Punjab Technical University organized an extension guest lecture on Friday. The topic of the lecture was "Skill requirement in Print and New Media". Noted Journalist Mr. Rajeev Bhaskar, Editor Punjab Tribune news portal was the resource person in this lecture. Dr. Ranbir Singh Head of the department with his team faculty Dr. Sarbjit Singh, Dr. Priyanka Mahajan welcomed to Mr Rajeev Bhaskar.

In his interaction, Mr. Bhaskar said that in the field of journalism reading and writing habits are very much important. He said that without the knowledge of subject no one can become a journalist. He said that only theory subjects cannot produce journalist skills, for skilled job in journalism, it is important to read and write maximum with a survey of ground reality.
Further, he talked about the scope of online media/new media. Mr Bhaskar said that one can start writing his blog to develop his or her writing skills. He taught to students about the news reading. He guided to read newspapers maximum and to watch news videos daily. He also shared his personal experiences in the field of media. Students of Mass Communications had an interactive session with him in the last. The vote of thanks was delivered by Department head Dr. Ranbir Singh.
