 By following the set agenda to promote technical education and Skill development in Punjab, Tata Technologies launched an Apprenticeship program for I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) students. Under this program the Company is offering a Stipend of Rs.10,000/- per month to University’s fresh graduates (2017-18) B.E, B. TECH students who are not yet employed. The Company’s Education Services & Initiative authorities sent a final proposal to University Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Kumar Sharma & other authorities and asked to share the relevant list.
 
 
 
VC Prof. Sharma shared about the details of the project that the students of B.E/B.TECH. Computer Science, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics & Communications Engineering are eligible for the programme. The percentage of marks is Minimum 60% or 6.40 CGPA through X, XII, and till 3rd year. The other conditions are No gaps between academics, No Backlog and only 1 year gap will be allowed after XII for entrance exam. It is learnt that in the month of September an MOU was signed between Tata Technologies and IKGPTU. The agenda of MoU was to uplift and promote Technical Education in the state by establishing 5 Centers for Innovation, Invention & Incubation (CIIITs) in the state at a cost of Rs. 739 Crore. This Apprenticeship program is part of that.
 
 
 
Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Sharma welcomed TATA TECHNOLOGIES initiative and appoint University’s Placement and Training team members to furnish all the requirements of company. He said that these kind of programmes would work to facilitate and develop the skill sets required to bridge the skill gap and enhance employability prospects of students in the manufacturing sector. He said that this launch will prove its worth as milestone for IKGPTU Engineering pass out Students. He clarify that Apprenticeship Program will run at University’s Main Campus CIIIT Kapurthala & Guru Nanak Dev Ji Centres for Innovation, Invention & Incubation (GND CIIITs) Jabbowal (Sultanpur Lodhi). Vice Chancellor thanked TATA TECHNOLOGIES officials to start programme as per announced schedule.
