IKGPTU Computer Science Department students showcase their talent in “Vihan” Event

– Student Gudiya, Aditya, Aanchal, Akshit Chowdhary got title awards, Department made record of highest admissions

Jalandhar/Kapurthala The students of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department of I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) batch 2022 through its cultural event “VIHAN” have shown their art talent. The students welcomed the batch 2022-23 with a fresher’s welcome cultural event and a party. The old students mesmerized everyone with their cultural activities. University Registrar Dr. S.K Misra was the chief guest of the event and Dean Academics Prof. (Dr.) Vikas Chawla and Dean R&D Dr. Hitesh Sharma were the special guests at the activity. The welcome address at the ceremony was delivered by Dean Academics Prof. (Dr.) Vikas Chawla. In his special interaction with students from the stage, Dr Chawla inspired the students not to be afraid of studies and move forward by focusing on practical study.

The Chief Guest Registrar Dr. Misra congratulated the CSE department for the highest admissions in the university. The CSE department has enrolled more than 400 students this year. Due to increased practical popularity of the B.Tech CSE and BCA program at IKG PTU Main Campus, there were record admissions this year and many students on the waiting list too. Dr. S.K Misra encouraged the students to participate and organize cultural events. He described such events as an essential part of student life. Dr. Vikas Chawla also highlighted the impact of such events in student life and focused on the need to develop friendship between seniors and juniors. Faculty members of the CSE department Dr. Dinesh Gupta, Dr. Raman Kumar, Dr. Anshu Bhasin and Dr. Pooja Sharma got the program better prepared and coordinated with different departments.

The event began with the chief guest and other members lighting the lamp and taking the blessings of Goddess Saraswati. It followed with the utmost energy of the audience, that included the students of the 2nd semester and the 4th semester of B.Tech. CSE, BCA and M Tech CSE who all were cheering at every moment of guest items presented by students. Everyone was vibing to the beats going on and cheers could be heard from every corner. Whether it was dance performances to temperature increasing performance, songs or some fun poetry; there was literally everything. After all that dancing and singing and vibing, the Freshers contest started with everyone performing mesmerizing ramp-walk with introduction. The shortlisting student’s then had to participate in the question round. In between the final guest items like Bhangra that literally made everyone stand up from their seats and cheer the performances.

Finally the result results came out and the title for Ms. Talented was given to Ms. Gudia and Mr. Talented to Mr. Aditya. Ms. Anchal was chosen to be the Ms, Freshers and Mr. Akshit Chaudhary was chosen to be the Mr. Freshers. The event then ended with a rocking dance party and all students danced to the electrifying songs placed by the DJ.

Dr. Dinesh Gupta in the end congratulated the students who headed various committees for the successful event which included Mr. Mohit Sharma, Mr. Avjot Singh, Mr. Mohammad Arif, Mr. Sonu Kumar, Mr. Ajay Vishwakarma, Mr. Rajan, Mr. Shobit, Ms. Nidhi Sharma, Ms. Pooja Singh and others.
