IKGPTU Celebrates World Radio Day, Content Expert Kanwarpreet joined as Expert

Jalandhar/Kapurthala I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU)’s Department of Journalism and Mass Communication celebrated World Radio Day by organizing an expert lecture for the students. Renowned Radio Content Expert Kanwarpreet Singh Narula joined the event as the resource person. University Dean Prof. (Dr.) Vikas Chalwa was the chief guest of the ceremony. Prof. (Dr). Ranbir Singh Head of the department of JMC & other teaching fraternities cordially welcomed the Chief Guest and the resource person.

During the floral address HOD Prof. (Dr.) Ranbir Singh emphasized that the department provides innumerable platforms like this so that the students get opportunities to be aware of the latest trends in the media industry. While addressing the students, Content Leader Mr Narula highlighted the theme for the 12th edition of “World Radio Day” as “Radio and Peace”.

Radio plays an essential role in maintaining peace. One of the agenda of radio is to spread information to the public with entertainment.

He informed the students about the organizational structure of the radio industry and various programming formats. He even put emphasis on the digitalization of the radio industry. He further talked about nuances of being a radio jockey. He advised that to become a successful radio jockey one needs quality content and command over language. The resource person also gently answered all the queries and cleared the doubts of the students.

A video made by student Saksham was highly appreciated. Student Aniket handled the responsibility of directing department photography in a professional manner. The stage was handled by the students Laveena Sharma and Sanskriti Verma.

The session came to an end with the special note & vote of thanks by Dean Academics Prof (Dr.) Vikas Chawla. On this occasion Dr. Balbir Kumar, Ms. Mangla Sahni and Mr. H.K Singh were present.
