– More than 3000 student artistes from 40 colleges will perform in different categories for three days event
Jalandhar/Kapurthala Young students have great energy & creativity. God blessed young minds with artistic skills. All that is needed is to provide them a performing platform & better opportunities. Youth festivals provide opportunities for the arts to students. It creates an atmosphere of creativity and group participation. Youth Festivals are important to channelize energy & enthusiasm of young students into creative, constructive fields. These are the views of educationalist Dr. S.K Misra, Registrar, I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKG PTU). Dr. Misra was addressing the inaugural ceremony of IKGPTU Inter-Zonal Youth Festival on Wednesday at Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Auditorium at the University Main Campus. He was the Chief Guest of the ceremony. He congratulated the participating teams.
Registrar Dr Misra assured the participants to provide all possible support for their future goals. He encouraged participants to participate in the Youth Festival with more and more energy. Dr. Misra was welcomed by Dean Student Welfare Dr. Gaurav Bhargava from the stage of Youth Festival. University Dean P&EP Dr. RPS Bedi, Dean College Development Dr. Balkar Singh, Dean Academic Dr. Vikas Chawla, Senior Faculty Prof Dr Yadwinder Singh Brar also joined the inaugural ceremony on the stage first. The program was started by lighting the lamp by the chief guest Dr. S.K.Misra.
Dean Student Welfare Dr. Gaurav Bhargava shared that there will be competitions in more than 25 categories from November 30 to December 02. These categories are Punjabi Folk Dance Giddha-Bhangra, Mimicry, Classical Dance, Classical Singing, Debate, Creative Writing, Poetry Recitation, Quiz, Painting, Collage Making, Photography, Rangoli etc. He said that in over three days, 3000 student artists will come to the university to participate in this inter zonal fest & these are the first three position holders of four zone competitions. These students are from 40+ affiliated colleges of university. He said that the North Zone competition was held in Amritsar Engineering College, West Zone competition was conducted at Aryan Group of Colleges Rajpura, Central Zone competition at Gulzar Group of Colleges Khanna in the month of October 2022. The South Zone competitions were held on 03rd and 04th November at CGC Landran.
Youth Festival Coordinator Assistant Director Sameer Sharman said that the winning students of this stage will represent IKG PTU in the Punjab State Youth Fest at Punjabi University Patiala on December 10, 11 and 12. Controller Examinations Dr. Paramjit Singh, Director IQAC Dr. Amanpreet Singh, Finance Officer Dr. SS Walia, Dr. Ekonkar Johal & others were present on this occasion.
