Survival of Society depends upon Human Values and its improvement is every educational institute’s responsibility. Before start work with professional ethics, everyone should check Human Values in his or her inner side. This message was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Kumar Sharma, Vice Chancellor I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University. He was addressing as Chief Guest to the inaugural session of 7 days’ Residential Faculty Development Programme on Student Induction for Universal Human Values (UHV) at University’s main campus Kapurthala.
VC Prof. Sharma said that to address responsibility on subject UHV, IKG PTU is taking initiatives regularly. He said that University will organize a National Conference on UHV every year as an annual feature. Further he deliberated about the importance of a teacher in the society, as a teacher is a Nation Builder. He also shared that University will organise such 25 FDPs for North Region.
The workshop started with the lamp lightning. Dr. A P Singh, Dean RIC, welcomed to the Chief Guest, Special Guests and participants. Dr. S. S. Ahluwalia, Registrar, delivered his experience about the residential workshops. Dr. Amanpreet Singh, Controller of Examination (COE), Dr. Balkar Singh, Dean Academics and Dr. R.P.S Bedi, Joint Registrar, Dr. Jagmeet Singh, Asst. Professor, IRC-UHVE also addressed the inaugural session.
The Keynote speaker of this workshop was Dr. R S Uppal, Associate Professor, BBSBEC, Sri Fatehgarh Sahib. He also shared that this workshop is a primarily aim to evolve concrete future plan for taking ‘Values’ & ‘Skills’ together and role of education for this purpose. The workshop will further seek to define the role of all stakeholders Viz. University, Colleges, Teachers and Students etc.
In this workshop Dr. S S Walia, Registrar IKG PTU, Dr. R S Maurya from IIT Ropar, Dr. Jagmeet Singh, IKG PTU, & Sh. Jitender Narula will deliberate lectures on the human values topic for all 7 days as resource persons. Er. Mohit Jain and Vinay Kehar are the coordinators to conducting this workshop.
This residential FDP is an AICTE sponsored activity and around 80 faculty members from various affiliated colleges of IKGPTU and various Universities of Punjab are attending the workshop.IKG PTU has been chosen by AICTE to conduct 3 days’ and 7-days’ FDPs for all the colleges of Punjab. Cater to this, there is a need to prepare teachers of UHV, who can develop themselves to conduct this induction FDP for students of their colleges. In this series, IKG PTU is organizing this 7 days’ FDP for teachers.
