By counting the years of Country’s Independence, now time to give your best to nation so that India become a Developed nation. Perhaps, it is in your mind that what can I do? And the answer is in doing your best at your seat/position by keeping in mind that your target is Developed India. Real contribution to Country is to set future targets & inspires others with your achieved goals. These energetic words are delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Kumar Sharma, Vice Chancellor I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University during his Independence Day speech at University’s main campus.
Prof. Sharma shared University’s achievements with faculty, staff and students. He said that after his joining his main goal was to get reorganizations from all higher Educational Bodies and with the support of University team IKGPTU got approval from AICTE. He also shared about the confirmation of PhD Faculty, Scale & Designation promotion of University Employees, Collaborations with Foreign Universities, tie-up steps towards employability enhancement, R&D promotional works, on screen evaluation, CCTV Cameras moitoring at Examination centres and establishment of world class labs at main campus.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Sharma also briefed about future goals like E-Governance, Campus Enterprise Resource Management Systems, Interactive Campus Portal Platform, E-Campus Connectivity, E-education, Next Generation Network (NGN), Smart Cards, Bar Codes & RFID tag for Inventory Management, Digital Campus Apps,  
After the Independence Day Speech, University celebrated 72nd Independence day with full colours of patriotism. Its own campus students who gave different colours to IKGPTU cultural stage during this event. The PESCO jawans, as security officers, gave respect to tri colour flag with parade. National anthem was performed by students.
Dr. S.S.Ahluwalia, Registrar and Programme’s Chief Coordinator Dr RPS Bedi, Joint Registrar welcomed all the guests. Various cultural items were performed by students, which includes several topics like history, women empowerment, Punjabi culture etc. University’s Dean Dr N.P.Singh, Dr A.P. Singh also motivated University staff. 
All officers, faculty members & staff members were present during the ceremony.
