- IKGPTU organized Seven-days NSS camp at its Main Campus
NSS camps are very much important for the overall development of students. These camps are helpful to strengthen the life style of youth and their commitments towards society. These words are delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Kumar Sharma Vice Chancellor I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University. He was addressing to NSS volunteers at University’s main campus. Prof. (Dr.) Sharma said that these NSS Camp seven days will set a new chapter in everyone’s life. He inspired the students to own issues related to society development & welfare. He also introduced University’s initiatives like e-resources, online examination system, on screen evaluation system etc during the camp.
After this IAS D.P.S Kharbanda, Deputy Commissioner of Kapurthala, also addressed participants as special guest of the activity. He focused on the importance of vote. DC Kharbanda said that students should make their own vote before the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections so that they can make their contribution in the democratic system of the country. He said that instead of getting jobs, students need to become job-oriented entrepreneurs and establish small enterprises. He said that the students could take advantage of the government schemes to set up their small enterprises.
On this occasion, the Joint Registrar of the University Dr. RPS Bedi said that apart from 14 different colleges in this seven-day camp, more than 350 NSS volunteers of University Main Camps will work in main campus & surrounding villages. He said that under the project free medical checkups, Yoga activities and cultural activities are being organized in the village of Dhpai, cleaning of the football ground and cricket ground, Village survey.
University Registrar Dr. SS Walia thanked the visiting guests and said that the University is affiliated with the social environment of surroundings and through NSS students are committed to providing awareness to the society. He said that the University has adopted the villages around them and in these villages, University regularly organizes programs.

On this occasion, NSS Campus Unit Program Officer Dr. Sarabjit Singh Mann, Dr. Manpreet Kaur, Dr. Pinki, Ms Geeta Verma, Ajay Kumar, Yuvraj Singh, Ishan Rana, Amritpal Kaur, Neha Thakur, Amanvir Kaur, Ramanjit Kaur Bhangu, staff and students were present.
