As part of the BTech EE first-year students (Batch 2026) induction programme, IKGPTU Main Campus, Kapurthala organized an educational and cultural exposure visit to the model village of Seechewal and the historic town of Sultanpur Lodhi on dated 22nd August 2026. The university delegation, consisting of 150 first-year students, five faculty members from various departments, and student volunteers, traveled in three university buses. Dr. Kulraj Kaur, Assistant Professor from the Department of Electrical Engineering, represented the department in this university-wide initiative, playing a key role in coordinating and leading the delegation throughout the visit.Upon reaching Seechewal, the IKGPTU team was warmly welcomed by Professor Kulwinder Singh, Principal of Seechewal College, alongside the village Sarpanch. The students were taken on a guided tour of the village’s award-winning smart infrastructure. Key highlights included a live demonstration of the eco-friendly wastewater treatment plant and its distribution network, followed by a visit to the Smart Library, which functions as the digital administrative hub of the village.After interacting with the hosts over Cha da Langar at Seechewal College, the students visited the expansive green nursery established by renowned environmentalist Padma Shri Sant Baba Balbir Singh Ji Seechewal (Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha), where they observed diverse plant species and learned about ecological sustainability. The final leg of the journey took the students to the historic Gurdwara Shri Ber Sahib in Sultanpur Lodhi. The delegation spent time listening to peaceful Gurbani and partook in Guru ka Langar, learning core community values before safely returning to the university campus.
