– IKGPTU organized Two different programs on the theme “Indigenous Technology for Viksit Bharat” on National Science Day at its Main Campus Kapurthala.
– NIT Director Prof. (Dr.) Binod Kumar Kanaujia was the chief guest, various competitions were held among the polytechnic students of Civil Engineering Department and students of affiliated colleges.

Jalandhar/Kapurthala On the occasion of National Science Day, I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKG PTU) organized two different programs under the command & inspiration of Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Susheel Mittal. The theme of the main event was “Indigenous Technology for Viksit Bharat”. The first program was organized by the NSS wing of the Department of Student Welfare IKGPTU at the Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Auditorium, in which Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jalandhar Director Prof. (Dr.) Binod Kumar Kanaujia was the chief guest. The second program was organized by the Civil Engineering Department of the University, in which University Registrar Dr. S.K. Misra was the chief guest.
University Vice Chancellor Prof (Dr.) Susheel Mittal sent an inspirational message to the students, faculty and staff on the National Science Day. He shared about the intricacies of science and life memoir in every day and every activity through his message.

The main function started with the lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) Binod Kumar Kanaujia. In his address, Prof. (Dr.) Binod Kumar Kanaujia said that basic science, technology and engineering are all in co-relation with each other. He paid tribute to Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman, an Indian physicist, known for his work in the field of light scattering and shared the example of his continuous work on the same subject “Light Scattering” since his graduation. Prof. (Dr.) Binod Kumar Kanaujia, while sharing the contribution of scientists educated from normal institutions in Chandrayan Project, inspired that institutions are not big, or small but dedication and continuous efforts are important. He said that the country can be led even through consistency in efforts, credibility and small contribution. On this occasion, hundreds of students from the university main campus, IKGPTU other campuses and various affiliated colleges participated in activities like declaration, quiz, poster making etc.

On the other hand, in the program organized in the Civil Engineering Department of the University, Registrar Dr. S.K Misra spoke about innovation, about Indian science, about the mixture of science and technology. He presented an overview of the role of science in the changes from independence till now. Dr. Misra shared thoughts related to Atma Bharat about the role of Indian science in everything from space science to Covid vaccine. Civil Engineering Department Head Prof. (Dr.) Rajeev Chauhan and team conducted various science related projects and competitions among different teams of polytechnic colleges.

Dean Academics Prof. (Dr.) Vikas Chawla was the special guest in both the programs, and he inspired the students to stay connected with science through various scientific examples. Dean R&D Prof. (Dr.) Hitesh Sharma shared the harmony of nature and science through an excellent PPT. The welcome address was delivered by Dean Student welfare Prof. (Dr.) Gaurav Bhargava and the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Chandra Prakash, Incharge IKGPTU NSS Wing.
