     Involvement of Industry Experts is must for the Development of faculty. It is an important exercise to know the ground realities & requirements of the industry relevant. This was the message of Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Kumar Sharma, Vice Chancellor I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University for the organizing team of faculty development programme at University main campus. He shared his clear vision about the FDP through this message. He said that only an experienced faculty, who is aware about the reality of relevant subject industry, can develop a campus class in a best way.

Here is noteworthy that a one-week faculty development programme that judiciously integrated audio-video presentations in academic classes along with need-based laboratory sessions, case studies concluded at Department of Electrical Engineering at IKGPTU main campus.

Besides, the University faculty experts had been invited from prestigious National Institutes along with Industry to hold sessions on recent advancements in power and energy systems. Experts held sessions on modern heuristic techniques for optimization, developments alongside challenges of renewable energies, recent advancements in renewable energy, grid integration, smart grids, green-micro grids, energy efficiency and power equipment performance. The interactions led to identification of thrust areas for industry-based research through real-time simulations in the session held. 

There were faculty members, research scholars and utility employees among the 50 participants from Jammu and Kashmir, Kerala, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Delhi NCR. The inaugural session was conducted by renounced academician and vivid researcher Dr J S Dhillon from SLIET Longowal.  The host University was the cosponsor for the event.

During the valedictory session the Dr Y S Brar, Director of the Main Campus discussed the scope of future work with Quarbz Info Systems, the industry contributors for this event. Dr Gagandeep Kaur, Head of the department earlier informed all about the research facilities available in the department. The event concluded by a vote of thanks by Dr Naveen Sharma, Convener of the event.
