IKGPTU NSS & SVEEP wing organized Awareness Workshop on “Mera Pehal Vote Rashtra Ke Liye
Jalandhar/Kapurthala The National Service Scheme (NSS) wing of I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) organized a One Day Program to educate first time voters about the importance of voting at its main campus Kapurthala on March 13. This event was jointly organized with Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation SVEEP Team under programme “Mera Pehla Vote Rashtra Ke Liye”, a joint initiative of Ministry of Education and Ministry of Youth & Sports, Govt. of India.
In this event Prof. (Dr) Susheel Mittal, Vice Chancellor IKGPTU sends his message for the young voters. Registrar IKGPTU, Dr. S.K. Misra commended the efforts of NSS Wing and SVEEP for organizing such an informative program aimed at empowering the youth with knowledge about their voting rights and responsibilities. He emphasized the importance of active participation in the democratic process and urged all eligible students to exercise their right to vote wisely.
Dr. Misra also highlighted the significance of making informed choices based on the candidates’ qualifications and track records rather than succumbing to inducements or bribery. He reiterated the university’s commitment to promoting civic engagement and democracy among its students.
The program featured interactive sessions, awareness campaigns, and informational materials to equip first-time voters with the necessary tools to make informed decisions during elections.
Dean Academics, Prof. (Dr.) Vikas Chawla motivated the students that they must vote this time as their vote is essential for the country’s democracy as well as national responsibility being citizen of India. They must vote by analyzing the credentials as well as work done by the candidates. During the event, All the students take a pledge to vote and vote wisely in the coming elections.
Dr. Chander Parkash, Program Coordinator (NSS), passionately emphasized the significance of elections as a national festival, urging all students to actively participate and contribute to the nation-building process.
Dr. Kapil Gupta, Coordinator of SVEEP activities, extended heartfelt gratitude to all participants, organizers, and speakers for their valuable contributions towards making the event a success. He expressed appreciation for the enthusiasm and commitment shown by the students and underscored the importance of such initiatives in fostering civic awareness and engagement among the youth. Dr. Gupta reiterated the significance of informed voting and encouraged everyone to continue their civic participation beyond the event.
