IKGPTU 25th Annual Inter College Athletics Meet started at university main campus, 600 athletic games players from the state participated.

Jalandhar/Kapurthala ( ) The IKG PTU 25th Annual Inter College Athletics Meet started on Thursday at I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (I.K.G.PTU) main campus kapurthala road. In this inter-college athletics meet, competitions in 16 games of men’s and women’s categories will continue for two consecutive days. In this athletics meet, more than 600 budding champions, athletic games players from 40 teams of various sports from the university’s affiliated colleges across the state and the university’s own campus are participating.

Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Susheel Mittal was the chief guest at the inaugural session of the athletics meet. Dr. Ritu Jindal, wife of Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Mittal and Registrar Dr. S.K Misra attended the ceremony as special honored guests.

During the “Inaugural Ceremony” of this two-day athletics meet, the sound of firecrackers and the band of BSF soldiers filled the enthusiasm of hundreds of players present on the field. In this meet, the university has associated 40 coaches for transparent results.

After the team marched past salute ceremony, University Vice Chancellor Prof (Dr) Susheel Mittal opened the athletics meet with the Olympic torch. In his keynote speech, Dr Mittal said that a healthy mind resides in a healthy body and sports is very important for a healthy body. With his inspirational speech, he instilled enthusiasm among all the players to play in the spirit of sportsmanship.

Guest of honor of the ceremony, Registrar Dr. S.K Misra spoke on the importance of sports events & its participation for the better future of the country. He said that the more the youth of the country participate in sports, the stronger will be their zeal and enthusiasm to move forward, and this is the basis of progress and capability.

Earlier, Dean Student Welfare of the University, Prof. (Dr.) Gaurav Bhargava read the welcome address, while in the end, the vote of thanks was delivered by Dean Academics, Prof. (Dr.) Vikas Chawla.

Professor Manpreet Kaur of Akal College of Pharmacy, senior coach of RCF Jaswinder Singh and retired coach Ram Partap from Punjab Sports Department, Coordinator Dr Vinay Kehar had supported the ceremony on ground and backend. Sanjeev Sharma moderated the stage in good manners.

Teams participating in the march past included DAVIET Jalandhar, Amritsar Group of Colleges Amritsar, Akal College of Pharmacy, BIS Gagra Moga, CGC Jhanjheri, GGI Khanna, GHG College of Pharmacy, GNE Ludhiana, HIMT College, SAVIET Banur, University Hoshiarpur Campus led the march past ceremony. Khelo India’s gold medallist player Amandeep Kaur was specially present in the inaugural session. Martial arts player Abhishek Singh took the oath of the University Team Sportsman Ship. On this occasion, Dean P&EP Dr RPS Bedi, Dean R&D Dr Hitesh Sharma, Dean Faculty Dr Satbir Singh, Finance Officer Dr S S Walia & others were present.
