Expert talk on Systematic and Advance Planning is Solutions to energy problems: Dr. Kothari

 Energy problems are at the world stage and on every step maximum people are talking about substitute, but one more important factor is systematic and advance planning to save energy and its future problems. These words are delivered by distinguished academician and eminent researcher Dr. D. P Kothari at I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University Jalandhar-Kapurthala. He is former Director of IIT Delhi and Former Vice Chancellor of VIT, Vellore. He delivered an expert talk on solutions to the energy problems in the third world countries. 

He discussed the current Energy World Scenario and the present electric generation scenario with facts and figures in respect of India. He conveyed that, with systematic and advance planning, through measures like co-generation, energy management, and energy conservation, the electric energy supply scenario of 2020 will hopefully be free of the perennial problems of power shortages, voltage fluctuations and tripping. The lecture also dwelled on the pros and cons of using nuclear energy. The use of energy policy, optimization, optimum energy mix and hybrid energy systems were highlighted. He also shared his experiences and advised the students regarding the habits that would help them to attain the attributes expected by the industry from an engineer.

The session was attended by faculty and students of Kapurthala and Batala campus of the University. Earlier the Head of Electrical Engg. Department Dr YS Brar welcomed the guest. Also present on the occasion was Dean (RIC) Dr A P Singh, Director Colleges Dr Balkar Singh and Registrar Dr Amanpreet Singh.
