Alumni Meets are an excellent opportunity: VC Prof. (Dr.) Sharma

IKGPTU organized 1st Virtual Alumni Meet

“Maintaining relations with the alumni has always been important for institutions. It is an excellent opportunity for the alumnus too who refresh contacts with their old friends and teachers. It will also help in improving placements & opportunities for students.” These are the words of Vice Chancellor I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Kumar Sharma.

VC Prof. Sharma was addressing University’s 1st Virtual Alumni Meet as Chief Guest. He said that IKGPTU has been catering to the requirements of industry and imparting technical education since 1997, the last 23 years. Hence, it is essential to continue the existing legacy. Continuing his address, Vice Chancellor stressed upon the need for the organization of such events and said that these events help in binding us. These kinds of meets should be organized on regular basis. Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Kumar Sharma extended his blessings upon the students.

The theme of this meet was a programme to facilitate, consolidate and coordinate Alumni activities at IKGPTU Campus Amritsar. The objective of this meet was to interact with the alumni, plan the future events, take Feedback and cherish the hours of togetherness. More than 50 passed students of IKGPTU Amritsar campus attended this virtual alumni meet.  Dr. Mrigender Bedi, Assistant Director, Corporate Relations and Alumni welcomed the dignitaries and students.

Er. Navdeepak Sandhu, Deputy Director, Corporate Relations and Alumni advocated the importance of faculty connections in his discourse. He also talked about the aim of the occasion and gave a direction to the main event. He further invited alumni to visit the campus in order to motivate the students to work as hard as possible to excel in their respective fields and to make I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University more proud of its students.

During the event, students from the past batches of B.C.A. and B.Tech (Computer Science and Engineering and Mechanical Engineering) shared novel experiences of their professional life. In addition, they explained at length the new kinds of testing processes designed by corporate system to hire capable geniuses. These students were also reminiscent of the time spent in the campus and provided with feedback to enhance the experience of current students. A short video was showcased to acquaint the respected alumni with the various activities happening around the campus.

Dr. Amit Sarin, In-charge IKGPTU Amritsar Campus sincerely expressed its gratitude to the Vice Chancellor for his guidance and support to make this event a grand success. He also extended thanks to Dr Vipul Sharma, Assistant Professor & Alumni Coordinator, IKGPTU Campus Amritsar and Tarun Kanodia for organizing a Meet that was worth remembering.
