IKGPTU Management Department organized Seminar on Traffic Rules
The Department of Management & Hospitality of I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University Jalandhar, Kapurthala in collaboration with the Kapurthala District Traffic Police, arranged an extensive and stimulating seminar centred around the theme of “Traffic Rules & Awareness.” The guest speaker was ASI Gurbachan Singh Bangar who is renowned for All India Peace Journey by bicycle, briefed the students about the traffic rules, traffic signals, and other traffic signs and made them aware of the current laws and facts of accidents. He in an interactive session stated that road accidents, locally as well as globally, are currently the focal point of media headlines. These accidents occur solely as a result of causes such as excessive speeding, reckless driving, driving on the wrong side of the road, running red lights, and using cell phones while driving. Vice Chancellor Dr Susheel Mittal & Registrar Dr S K Misra appreciated the efforts of the department to organize this kind of awareness activity for students.
As responsible citizens of society, we should never drive our vehicles beyond the prescribed speed limit, wear seat belts and helmets, and most importantly, we should not take alcohol before driving our vehicles because with such negligence we do not only kill ourselves but also kill innocent people.
Prof. (Dr.) Harmeen Soch head of the department appreciated the efforts of traffic police to spread awareness about traffic rules amongst students and appealed to them to abide by road safety and traffic rules. In the end vote of thanks was extended to the guest of honor and promised to hold more such seminars in the future by the department. During this event, the presence of faculty members Dr. Pooja Mehta, Dr. Mandeep Kaur, Dr. Roopali Batra, Dr. Sanjeev Bansal and all the guest professors were noted.
