500 students from five states participated in 25 days Student Induction Program at IKGPTU Campus

  • Punjabi Giddha, Bhangra & various cultural items performed by students on last day ceremony
  • Journalism and Mass Communication students were got high appreciation from the stage

    Jalandhar/Kapurthala I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) has successfully conducted a special Student Induction Program (SIP) for the newly admitted students. More than 500 students worked together for 25 days in this Induction Program with the aim of promoting the university’s education tradition to new students, better relationships between new and old students and to boost the students’ participation in daily activities. On the last day a grand ceremony was organized in which University Registrar Dr. S.K. Mishra was the chief guest. Dean Academics Prof. (Dr.) Vikas Chawla, Dean College Development Dr. Balkar Singh, Senior Professor and Chairman of Student Induction Program (SIP) Prof. (Dr.) Yadwinder Singh Brar were the special guests. Olympian Ripu Daman Singh played his special role in the morning session for 25 consecutive days in this program which started from 5th September.

    After the ceremonial act of lighting the lamp, the ceremony proceeded with the recitation of the Shabad Gyan “Deh Shiva Vaar Mohe Hai…”. Stage moderator and Program Coordinator Youth Officer Sanjeev Sharma said that all the events were very interesting and kept the students engaged with them from morning till evening. The theme of the program was “Dimension of Human Being ”, in which the students were given an opportunity to understand the new environment at University. Organized separate sessions with hosters were too interesting. During the valedictory session, a video film of the entire Student Induction Program prepared by students of the Department of Journalism & Mass Communication, Saksham Kalia and others, got high appreciation.

    In the cultural event of the closing ceremony, students Lakshya (CSC), Pratiksha Sharma (ECE), Vanshika (CSC), Aastha and Tamanna, Amolika and Muskaan performed the stage well with various activities. Meanwhile Bhangra Mutiara Da, Student Chhavi’s poem “Bachpan”, Live Bhangra-Gidda, Sahil Kumar’s poem “Koshish”, Rajveer Kaur (Journalism Department)’s poem “Kya Hai Zindagi”, Punjabi Folk Song “Lathe Di Chadar, Pariksha Sharma “Mera Punjab” poem got a lot of appreciation from the audience.

    From the stage the chairman SIP Prof. Brar, Dean Academics Prof. Vikas Chawla, Registrar Dr. S.K Mishra, Assistant Registrar Dr. Jatinder Narula, Program Coordinator addressed to students. From the stage of the ceremony, the students were given a vow to be in discipline. Prof. Sarabjit Singh Mann, Assistant Director Culture Sameer Sharma had a special contribution in getting the cultural items ready.
