NSS PROGRAM OFFICER MEET
NSS wing of IKGPTU organized a one day NSS Program Officers Meet to introduce to the NSS Program Officers about the NSS working. The meet was chaired by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Dr. Susheel Mittal. Dr. Harinder kaur, Regional Director, NSS and Dr. Nemi Chand, SNO, Chandigarh were the guests of honour. Dr. Susheel Mittal, the Vice Chancellor while inaugurating the One day NSS Program Officers Orientation Program addressed the program Officers of affiliated colleges of IKGPTU expressed that educational institutions are now responsible for the overall personality development of the students. It is an old tradition when the educational institutions were limited to studies, arranging competitions between students for high score or providing students a job. Now the responsibility of educational institutions is more to make students capable of good leadership, to make them better administrators & to make them global leaders. National Service Scheme (NSS) is a very effective subject for this. NSS plays an important role in overall personality development of a student.
This is the view of Dr. Susheel Mittal, Vice Chancellor, I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU). Vice Chancellor Dr. Mittal was addressing the one day NSS Officers Orientation Program organized in the main campus of the University on Thursday as the chief guest. NSS officers and volunteers from colleges across the state participated in the program. The program started with lighting the lamp ceremony.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Mittal said that it is our responsibility to work in the
interest of the society. Serving the Society should be the motto (message) of our whole life. He advised all NSS officers to work with personal interaction and personal involvement to inculcate leadership potential in students, motivate them to join NSS. He said take it as a challenge and move ahead with enthusiasm so that all of you can fulfill the big responsibility.
The program was organized by the NSS wing under the leadership of the Student Welfare Department of the University. Ms Harinder Kaur, Regional Director of NSS Directorate, Chandigarh and State Liaison Officer of Chandigarh, Dr. Nemichand explained the various program of NSS and how to establish and run a NSS unit in an institution. In this programme, Dean College Development Dr. Balkar Singh, Dean Academics Prof. (Dr.) Vikas Chawla, Dean P&EP Dr. RPS Bedi, Dean Student Welfare Prof. (Dr.) Gaurav Bhargava, Dean Faculty Development Prof. (Dr.) Satveer Singh, Finance Officer Dr. Sukhbir Walia, NSS Program coordinator Dr. Chander Prakash, Naveen Sharma, Sanjeev Sharma were also present
