International Yoga Day was observed at I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University
Jalandhar/Kapurthala On the eve of International Yoga Day, a Yoga Camp was organized at I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University, Kapurthala on 20th June, 2025. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, including NCC Cadets and NSS Volunteers, as well as faculty members, university officers, and non-teaching staff.
The camp was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr) Susheel Mittal, who highlighted the importance and role of Yoga in maintaining physical, intellectual, mental, and spiritual balance. He emphasized that today’s lifestyle-related health and behavioral issues are contributing to increasing levels of stress, and Yoga serves as a powerful tool to relieve stress and enhance personal efficiency. Prof. Mittal encouraged students, particularly NSS Volunteers and NCC Cadets, to adopt Yoga as a regular part of their daily routine so that they can contribute more effectively to the service of society.
The Yoga session was conducted by Sh. Devinder Kumar and Sh. Gaurav from the Art of Living Foundation. Sh. Devinder Kumar explained that Yoga is not merely a combination of Asanas and Pranayam, but a comprehensive discipline that integrates mind, body, and spirit.
Dr. Chander Parkash elaborated on the concept of Ashtang Yoga, explaining how regular practice can activate various faculties of the body and help in expanding the limits of both the physical and subtle self. Dr. Rajiv Chauhan emphasized India’s historical and cultural contribution as the birthplace of Yoga, which has now reached every corner of the globe. He encouraged students to explore the multifaceted dimensions of Yoga and integrate them into their lives.
Sh. Gaganjot Singh, along with Sh. Devinder Kumar, also shared their insights and addressed the participants, emphasizing the transformative power of regular Yoga practice.
The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Naveen Sharma, acknowledging the efforts of all participants and organizers. Vice Chancellor Prof. Susheel Mittal felicitated the Yoga experts Sh. Devinder Kumar and Sh. Gaurav ji for their valuable contribution to the session.
