IKGPTU Research Scholar Vivek Mahajan Conferred with Best Posters and Oral Presentation Awards in 28th Punjab Science Congress

Event was held at Panjab University Chandigarh and Khalsa College Amritsar in February 2025.
Jalandhar Vivek Mahajan, a Research Scholar of the Physics Department at I K Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKG PTU) main campus, conferred with the Best Poster Award from the Punjab Academy of Sciences for presenting a research paper titled “Dual-Functional 2D WXY (XY= S, Se)/AlN vdW Heterostructures: Superconducting and Photocatalytic: A DFT Study” at the 28th Punjab Science Congress: National Conference on Current Trends in Science and Technology hosted at Khalsa College Amritsar on Feb 7-9, 2025.

The second award was obtained for Best Poster Presentation at the National Conference cum Workshop on Computation and Experimental Techniques for Advanced Functional Materials (NCCET-AFM 2025) for presenting a research paper titled “Unveiling Strain-Engineered Rashba Splitting in 2D SnXY (XY=S, Se)/MoTe2 vdW Heterostructures for Spintronic Devices: A DFT Study” held on Feb 27th and 28th at the Department of Physics, Panjab University, Chandigarh.

The third award was obtained for Best Oral Presentation at the 8th National Conference on Current Advances in Physical Sciences (CAPS-2025) for presenting a research paper titled “Effect of bi-axial strain on electronic and optical properties of vertically stacked HfS2/HfSe2 heterostructures” held at the Department of Physics, Khalsa College, Amritsar on March 8, 2025.

All three of the papers were supervised by Prof. (Dr.) Hitesh Sharma (Guide), and Dr. Neha Kapila Sharma (Co-author), and motivated by Prof. (Dr.) Amit Sarin (Head of the Department).

Vice-Chancellor IKG PTU Prof. Dr. Susheel Mittal, congratulates Vivek Mahajan, Prof. (Dr.) Amit Sarin (HOD), Prof. (Dr.) Hitesh Sharma (Guide), and the Department of Physics for this achievement. Registrar Dr S K Misra also congratulates Vivek on his achievements.

VC Dr. Mittal said that it is a proud moment for the University and department as well as for the scholars. He further stated that this type of scientific gathering provides an excellent opportunity to communicate with other scientists and research academics from across the country. He also encouraged him to participate in more scientific events as well as other scholars of the campus to increase their participation in such events
