IKGPTU remembered Former PM Inder Kumar Gujral on his 11th death anniversary
Jalandhar/Kapurthala Sh.Inder Kumar Gujral ji, the 12th Prime Minister of the country, was remembered on his 11th death anniversary on Thursday at I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKG PTU). Under the command of Dr Susheel Mittal, Vice Chancellor & Dr S K Misra, Registrar, an event related to tribute to Gujral Ji was organized at main campus kapurthala road. The University family recalled his contribution, his work done for the welfare of the world. On this occasion, in a tribute function, first tribute was paid to his portrait by presenting him flowers, then his philosophy of life was discussed.
On this occasion, VC Dr Susheel Mittal shared that former Prime Minister Late. Shri Inder Kumar Gujral ji had great affection and connection with Punjab, especially with the city of Jalandhar. He started big projects like Doordarshan Jalandhar, Pushpa Gujral Science City etc. in Jalandhar. While being the Prime Minister, he prepared numerous schemes for public welfare in the country and got them implemented.
While paying homage, in the discussion held among the students regarding the life of Shri Gujral ji, Registrar Dr. S.K Misra, told that he had also actively participated in the Indian freedom struggle. He also went to jail during the Quit India Movement. Before becoming the 12th Prime Minister of India, he also worked in various positions in the Union Cabinet. He held important positions like Communications Minister, Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Information and Broadcasting Minister, Foreign Minister and Housing Minister. Before joining politics, he also worked as a journalist in the Hindi service of BBC for some time. Along with this, his foreign policies were also discussed.
