IKGPTU inks a memorandum of industry-academia partnership with PRCI
Chandigarh, November 23 I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar-Kapurthala, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Chandigarh Chapter of Public Relations Council of India (PRCI) for an industry-academia partnership. PRCI shall be setting up the chapter of Young Communicators Club for the university’s students in the department of journalism and mass communication.
The MoU was signed by the Registrar of IKGPTU Dr. S.K. Misra and Mr Charanjit Singh, Senior National Vice President of PRCI in the presence of Dr. Susheel Mittal, Vice Chancellor of IKGPTU, North Zone Chairman of PRCI. Mr. Vivek Atray, ex-IAS, and IKGPTU Dy Registrar Rajneesh Sharma.
Dr. Misra applauded the PRCI’s endeavours to bring the professional knowledge and expertise at the doorsteps of the students to benefit from the new skill sets required in the industry through networking and interaction with the students.
Mr Charanjit Singh informed that rapid changes in communication technology necessitates the skills upgradation of students and faculty through knowledge sharing with the industry experts who shall also help them in networking with the industry for possible internship and jobs.
PRCI is an apex national body with 55 chapters across the country, and few years back initiated the concept of setting up Young Communicators Clubs in various educational institutions to prepare them to learn new skills and knowledge in the professional practice of public relations, journalism, and other allied fields of communication.
Dr. Devender Singh, Chairman of the Panjab University Law Department, former chairperson and Dean of University Alumni Dr. Deepti Gupta, PRCI Chapter Secretary Mr. Sudeep Rawat, and Mr Amandeep Singh also attended the event.
