IKGPTU Food Science and Technology Department Organizes Annual Sports Meet
Jalandhar/Kapurthala Keeping in mind the growth of sportsmanship and the aim of “Healthy India”, the Food Science and Technology Department of IKG PTU Main Campus organized the Annual Sports Meet at main campus. This year, both traditional and Olympic games were organized by the department. Around 80 students of the departmental courses participated enthusiastically in the various competitions held on the occasion of the sports meet. The function was inaugurated by the faculty members and staff of the department under the leadership of the Dean (P&EP) and Head of the Department, Prof. (Dr.) Gaurav Bhargava. This program was organized under the mentorship of the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Dr. (Prof.) Susheel Mittal. Vice-Chancellor Dr. (Prof) Susheel Mittal and Registrar Dr. S.K. Misra congratulated the Department of Food Science and Technology for organizing the program.
As the Head of the Department, Dr. Gaurav Bhargava said that sports are an important and integral part of the academic field and participation in them is very important. He said that in the era of online education, it is very important to organize traditional sports and Olympic games for the younger generation at the departmental and institutional level. He called such an event an important step for physical fitness. Dr. Gaurav Bhargava congratulated the students. The department of Food Sciences and Technology is running B.Sc. (Hons) Food Technology, B.Voc Food Technology, M.Sc. Food Technology and Ph.D in Food Technology courses at main campus Kapurthala.
During the event, Dr. Barinderjit Singh, Assistant Professor (Coordinator Sports Meet), Dr. Shabir Sidhu, Assistant Professor, Dr. Ghazal Sharma, Assistant Professor, Dr. Aakriti Jaiswal Assistant Professor (Co-Coordinator Sports Meet), Mrs. Anjali Tuli, Assistant Professor (Co-Coordinator), Mr. Sahil Chaudhary, Assistant Professor and Mrs. Simple Sharma Assistant Professor were present.
