IKGPTU Dept. of Journalism celebrates WORLD PHOTOGRAPHY DAY
The department of Journalism and Mass Communication I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University organised a guest lecture in an observance of “World Photography Day”. Senior Photo Journalist Karamveer Sandhu was the resource person on the occasion.
Dr. Ranbir Singh, Head of Department JMC extended a floral welcome to the guest resource person. Photo Journalist Sandhu conversed about the basics of photography and emphasized on calmness and active mindedness as key to a perfect photograph. He further explained the concepts of lighting and the challenges of the field of photography. He gave certain examples by illustrating his clicked photographs with captions and sharing his personal experiences in the field. He patiently answered the queries raised by the students.
On this occasion a competition of photography was also adjudged by Photo journalist Sandhu wherein students had clicked still photographs on the theme” Campus Life”. Arzoo, a student of MA 3rd semester bagged first prize followed by Nakesh of MA 3rd semester who stood second and Ramanjot of BA 1st year won the third prize. The students participated in this competition with full zeal and enthusiasm.
At the end of the programme a formal vote of thanks was given to the guest by Dr. Ekta Mahajan, Assistant Professor of the department. She lauded the speaker for sharing his valuable experiences with the students and enriching their knowledge to become successful budding journalists in future.
