IKGPTU Department of Journalism celebrates WORLD PHOTOGRAPHY DAY
Jalandhar/Kapurthala The department of Journalism and Mass Communication I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University organised a guest lecture in observance of “World Photography Day”. A professional of renowned firm “Third I picture”, Filmmaker and cinematographer, Mr. Sukhmanjot Singh was the resource person on the occasion. The event was mentored by Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Susheel Mittal, Registrar Dr. S.K. Misra. Both the authorities congratulated the department, its faculty and students for organizing this creative workshop with the practical approach and daily application in the field of journalism.
Department of Journalism Head Prof. (Dr.) Ranbir Singh and Assistant Professor, Dr. Ekta Mahajan, extended a floral welcome and token of gratitude to the resource person.
Mr. Sukhmanjot Singh conversed about the basic rules of photography and emphasized on patience being the key to become a successful photographer. He further explained the concept of lighting and importance of framing in photography. He gave certain examples by illustrating his clicked photographs and sharing his personal experiences in the field. He patiently answered the queries raised by the students. A follow-up group activity was also performed with the students to deepen their understanding of photography concepts and camera handling techniques.
On this occasion a competition of photography was also judged by the guest Mr. Sukhmanjot Singh wherein students had clicked still photographs on the theme “Nature and Architecture”. Anushka, a student of BA JMC 5th semester bagged first prize followed by Loveveer Kaur, BAJMC 1st semester who stood second and Rahul of BAJMC 3rd semester won the third prize. The students participated in this competition with full zeal and enthusiasm.
At the end of the programme a formal vote of thanks was given to the guest by Dr. Ekta Mahajan, Assistant Professor of the department. She lauded the speaker for sharing his valuable experiences with the students and enriching their knowledge to become successful budding journalists in future.
Babanpreet Kaur, a student of Bachelor in Journalism and Mass Communication, handled the stage. On this occasion, Assistant Professors of the department, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, Ms. Mangla Sahni, Ms. Garima Ganghariya and Mr. H.K Singh were also present to support the students.
