IKGPTU announced advisory committees for academic excellence in its affiliated institutions
By taking Step forward towards Academic Excellence, I K Gujral Punjab Technical University called Directors-Principals Meet of all affiliated Institutions. The agenda of this meet was to exchange ideas and getting feedback to establish Academic Excellence in University’s affiliated Institutions. Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Kumar Sharma chaired this meeting and addressed all quries related to various departments of the University; even he also addressed the issues related to National Level Technical Education Scenario. VC Prof. Sharma gets feedback from the invited director-Principals and suggested Measures to handle every situation in positive manners. 145 Principals and Directors attended this meeting.
During the meet it was came to notice that to cover the less admissions or to fulfilment the various targets some Institutions are into the move to admit Non-Attending Students as well as some are to saving funds appointing Ghost faculty. Vice Chancellor Prof. Ajay K. Sharma take serious note over it and clear to all institutions director-principals that University will not tolerate Non-Attending Students & Ghost faculty at any cost. He motivated to Principals & Directors that they are the backbone of Academia, so they should take responsibility to clean up system. He emphasize that providing quality education, transparent system and positive approach is the real branding, by which they can get maximum and quality admissions easily.
In his concluding remarks Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Sharma announced few of advisory committees who will take care towards academic excellence in IKG PTU’s affiliated institutions. The committees are for Academic Affairs, Research & Development (R&D), Infrastructure Development and Examination Reforms.
The others points which are discussed during the meet were Collaboration with PSEB for sensitizing young students, Start of New Courses with Multiple Entry and Multiple Exit system, Starting of MOOCS and Swayam Courses and consideration of their credits in IKG PTU curriculum, Centralized Placement Drive at IKG PTU main campus with a proper preparation about interest of students and the standards of companies visiting for placements, More Transparency in Evaluation of Question Papers, supply of modal solutions to the copy checkers, Faculty Development Programmes at University level etc.
During this meet Dean Academic Dr. Balkar Singh read out all agendas, Controller of Examination Dr. RPS Bedi give presentation over Examination reforms and Vote of thanks was given by Dean RIC Dr. Anirudh Pratap Singh
