IKG PTU Organizes an Interactive Session on Healthy Lifestyle and Stress Management

Jalandhar/Kapurthala () The Department of Student Welfare and Centre for Extension and Outreach Activities at I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University, organises an interactive session on Healthy LifeStyle and Stress Management for its students, research scholars, faculty and staff members. Prof. (Dr.) Susheel Mittal, Vice Chancellor graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Dr. Trimaan Singh Sikand, D.M. Neurology and FINR–Intervention Neuroradiology, Fortis Hospital, Jalandhar was the Resource Person and Guest of Honour.
Dr. Kapil Gupta, Assistant Professor (Management) and Coordinator, Centre for Extension and Outreach Activities welcomed the dignitaries and introduced the theme of the session. VC Prof. (Dr.) Susheel Mittal emphasised that in the present era of increasing digital engagement, deadline pressures and intense competition, the topic of healthy living and stress management is both relevant and essential. He highlighted the importance of strong value systems, spiritual grounding and open family communication in leading a balanced and healthy life.
Dr. Trimaan Singh Sikand shared his professional insights and clarified that not every headache should be perceived as a serious medical condition. He explained how a simple and healthy lifestyle can help prevent and manage various types of headaches and stress-related issues. He also elaborated on warning symptoms that require timely medical attention to prevent complications such as stroke or paralysis. Emphasising that “time is critical” in cases of brain stroke, he noted that patients brought to the hospital within the golden period can often be treated successfully. He shared real-life case examples where patients recovered fully after timely intervention.
The session witnessed active participation, with students, faculty and staff members engaging in meaningful interaction and raising queries related to headaches, migraines and brain strokes. Prof. (Dr.) Satvir Singh, Dean Student Welfare, appreciated the interactive session and remarked that such awareness programmes are essential, as timely knowledge and mindfulness can save lives. He thanked Dr. Sikand for explaining complex medical concepts in a simple and lucid manner. Dr. Sukhbir Singh Walia, Finance Officer IKGPTU supported the session. The session concluded with a formal vote of thanks.
