Huawei launched first edition of ICT Skill Competition at IKG PTU main campus, Kapurthala
Multinational networking and telecommunications Company Huawei Technologies launched its first edition of ICT Skill Competition at I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University main campus, Kapurthala. This is first of its kind competition held across 21 countries at world-wide. The Aims of company behind this ICT Skill Competition is to tap the talent pool in various Universities and Colleges across India. The top three students, who will establish factory on maximum points are to represent India at the Global ICT finals in China.
On the occasion, Dean Dr. A.P. Singh motivated the students to actively participate in the kind of events and competitions by saying that in the today’s scenario where ultra dynamism is witnessed due to which finding a right talent is not a tough task anymore for the employer rather finding a suitable platform for the student to show one’s capability is like a dream come true. He mentioned that participation in such competitions is a step forward of the participants into the professional world.
Mr. Derek Hao, President, Huawei India Enterprise business group, India said, “Huawei’s mission is to work in alignment with the Government to develop a robust ICT ecosystem, and a core element of this agenda is to support and nurture young talent. Through this competition, we endeavour to improve India’s ICT talent cultivation system, give students access to more knowledge and technologies, and build a positive talent ecosystem. We are certain that this initiative will develop digital abilities of the students, strengthen cooperation between Huawei Telecommunications and universities, improve students’ interest in understanding the ICT industry better and offer Indian students with an opportunity to develop their skills and become tomorrow’s ICT leaders.”
Deputy Director Er. Navdeepak Sandhu said that this competition will provide national & international exposure to the winners as well as the participants that will help them in securing good internships & ultimately good placement. He emphasized on the students’ participation in all professional competitions by saying that sincerity in participation in the kind of competitions must be more than participating in any recruitment drive. Such competitions boost the confidence of the participants, helps in self evaluation and bring holistic growth in them as a person.
