IKGPTU remembered Former Prime Minister Inder Kumar Gujral on his 105th birthday

– Discussion on his contribution in various subjects including Gujral Doctrine, Vision for foreign relations & Employment

Jalandhar/Kapurthala I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (I.K.G.P.T.U) remembered 12th Prime Minister of the country, Sh. Inder Kumar Gujral on his 105th birthday on Dec.04, 2024.He was remembered at the main campus of the University as well as other campuses situated in Hoshiarpur, Mohali and Sri Amritsar Sahib. On this occasion, various speakers shared their views on his life philosophy and inspired people to learn from his ideal life for a better future. In the ceremony organized under the leadership of the Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Susheel Mittal, discussions were held on his contribution in various subjects including Gujral Doctrine, Vision for foreign relations & Employment. University Registrar Dr. S.K. Misra shared points related to his life and his attachment with state Punjab & specially Jalandhar city.

Registrar Dr. S.K. Misra lit a candle in front of the photo of former Prime Minister Sh.Inder Kumar Gujral and offered flowers to his photo & pay tribute also. After this, a workshop was organized in the committee room. First of all, a presentation related to his life philosophy prepared by the Public Relations Department was shared between the gathering. After this, in his address, the Registrar Dr Misra talked about the foresight shown by the former Prime Minister regarding relations with foreign countries. In the workshop, all the senior officials and faculty members of the university together offered flowers and shared their views.

It is worth mentioning that former Prime Minister Sh. Inder Kumar Gujral had a connection with Punjab, especially the city of Jalandhar. In view of his connection with Punjab, his name was added to the name of Punjab Technical University in the year 2015. Special programs are organized every year in the university on his birthday i.e. 04 December and death anniversary i.e. 30 November. This year, tribute was paid to him in the main campus of the university on 30 November. On his birthday on Wednesday, celebrations were organized in all the campuses.

On this occasion, Dean and Joint Registrar Dr. R.P.S Bedi, Dean Academics Prof. (Dr.) Vikas Chawla, Dean (P & E.P) Dr. Hitesh Sharma, Dean Student Welfare Dr. Satbir Singh, Controller Examinations Dr. Paramjit Singh, Finance Officer Dr. Sukhbir Singh Walia and other officers and faculty members were present. The stage was conducted by Deputy Registrar Public Relations Rajneesh Sharma.
