IKGPTU & TATA STEEL jointly organized Workshop on Sustainable Construction Practices for Viksit Bharat 2047
Jalandhar/Kapurthala The company, Tata Steel & I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKG PTU) jointly organized an awareness workshop. The aim of the workshop was creating awareness about reducing global carbon footprints. This awareness workshop was organized at the University’s main campus, Kapurthala road. University’s Centre for Executive Education (CEE) hosted the event in the mentorship of Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Susheel Mittal & in the guidance of University Registrar cum Head CEE Dr. S.K. Misra. The key focus area of the workshop was to sensitive the future Civil Engineers to adopt safe construction practices being in seismic zone 4 and adopting new techniques & building materials mitigating carbon footprints. The Civil Engineering Department students from various institutions participated in this full day workshop.
Er. Kirpal Singh, Head (Civil Engineering, NFL Bathinda) and Dr. Charanjeet Singh from GNDEC Ludhiana were the keynote speakers at the workshop who encouraged students to bring their expertise to move away from conventional practices so that modern techniques help them add value, make their projects economically viable and help in reducing global warming.
Prof. (Dr.) Susheel Mittal, Vice Chancellor, extended a warm gratitude towards the entire management of Tata Steel and shared his views through a message that University is always ready for such industry-academia tie-ups in future also. Dr. S.K Misra, Head CEE cum Registrar IKGPTU inaugurated the workshop. In his address Dr. Misra motivated the students to learn about the construction practices with the best possible environmental positive impact. He further said that the engineering practices which are followed by considering their societal impact can only sustain the test of future.
Representatives from Tata Steel invited students to go to the field – educate and empower builders with knowledge about adopting safe construction practices.
Gaganjot Singh, Deputy Registrar IKGPTU said that it shall be an excellent opportunity for the students of Civil Engineering to go in the field and become brand ambassador of Tata Tiscon. Deputy Registrar Saurabh Sharma shared that the students of various campuses were overwhelmed by the knowledge and skills they learnt during the workshop with Tata Team.
