IKGPTU NSS wing observed Birth anniversary of Shaheed E Azam S. Bhagat Singh

Jalandhar/Kapurthala I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University’s (IKGPTU) NSS wing observed Birth anniversary of Shaheed E Azam S. Bhagat Singh today at its main campus where a number of NSS volunteers, NCC cadets, students and faculty members, non-teaching staff members & officials participated. They very fondly remembered the various aspects of the life of this great martyr. Dr. Sarabjit Singh delivered a lecture on the life of Shaheed E Azam. He cited various incidences of the life of S. Bhagat Singh which reflects that he was a great scholar of Sanskrit, an ardent follower of Arya Samaj. He told that he always stood for equal rights for all and therefore, he observed fast unto death when his fellow prisoners were served below quality food.
Speaking on the occasion the Vice Chancellor apprised that this country has observed a long time of slavery and our revered freedom fighters have laid supreme sacrifice in fighting for independence. We should always remember those sacrifices and strive to achieve excellence in our work and job so that we can sustain our independence and make our country proud so that sacrifices made by the great personalities like S. Bhagat Singh do not get wasted. Registrar of the university Dr. S.K. Mishra appealed to the students to adopt values of righteousness in their life and they must read about the life of S. Bhagat Singh to get motivation to contribute towards our country and society.
Dean Academics, Prof. Vikas Chawla said that S. Bhagat was a great Sanskrit scholar and won national competitions twice organised by one of the prominent academies of Varanasi. He was a keen reader of the books which shaped up his personality under the influence of Lala Lajpat Rai, Swami Vivekanand, his uncle S. Ajit Singh.
NSS Coordinator Dr. Chander Parkash also expressed his views and told the students that S. Bhagat Singh was a scholar, revolutionary and having an unwavering personality. He at that time influenced a large population of the country to stand up for the country and fight for its independence. At that he even became a more popular personality even more popular than Mahatma Gandhi. His life and philosophy will always keep on influencing our youth for an infinite time period. In the end, he thanked all the dignitaries, students and faculty members present in the program.
