– IKG PTU organized one day seminar on drug de-addiction awareness in association with Kapurthala Police

Jalandhar/Kapurthala I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKG PTU) organized a one-day seminar on drug de-addiction awareness at its main campus Kapurthala road in collaboration with District Police Kapurthala. The University Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Susheel Mittal joined this seminar as the chief guest. District Superintendent of Police Kapurthala (SSP) Rajpal Singh Sandhu appeared as the special guest speaker for the interactive session during the seminar. The welcome ceremony was presided over by Dr S.K Misra, Registrar of the University.
Addressing the faculty members, officers and employees, Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Susheel Mittal said that teachers can become motivators and guides of students in each & every subject. He said that teachers can play a role in bringing a big change not only in the students but also in the society during delivering their lectures. He said that the chain of communication from teacher to student and then to the society can play a big social role in de-addiction.
University Registrar Dr. S.K Misra expressed commitment to provide every kind of support to the university staff and police administration in the anti-drug campaign. He also shared the university’s past efforts and future plans. Dean Academic Prof. (Dr.) Vikas Chawla played the role of special coordinator on the stage, accompanying the guests at the event.
On this occasion, in a special interactive session, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kapurthala Rajpal Singh Sandhu said that schools, colleges and universities can play a more meaningful role in motivating the new generation to get rid of drug addiction. He said that educational institutions need to cooperate with the police administration. He said that we have to reach out to a wide range of society, from the individual level to the institutional level. He talked to the faculty for a long time and asked them for suggestions for de-addiction campaign. He said that thirty thousand people have joined the social media page run by the police administration and people are getting very good response in this regard. He further said that the number of people connected on social media will soon reach one lakh, who are volunteers of this campaign.
Meanwhile, teachers and officials of the university held active talks with the district police chief and reiterated the university’s commitment in the drug-free campaign. Faculty members and officers who interacted with the district police chief included Dr. Balkar Singh (Dean College Development), Dr. Vikas Chawla (Dean Academic), Dr. Ranbir Singh (Professor Head Journalism Department), Dr. Ekonkar Singh Johal (Deputy Registrar), Assistant Professor Vivek Aggarwal, Dr. Chandra Prakash, Dr. Pooja Mehta, Dr. Mandeep Kaur, Dr. Rupali Batra, Dr. Akhil Gupta, Dr. Varinderjit Singh was included.
On this occasion, Deputy Medical Officer Dr. Sandeep Bhola stressed on considering the topic seriously. He said that this problem cannot be solved only by the administration, but for this the cooperation of every member of the society is necessary.
On this occasion, DSP Manpreet Singh, DSP Amrik Singh Chahal were also participated. The vote of thanks in this seminar was delivered by Dean Academic Prof Dr Vikas Chawla, Stage was moderato by Dr Sarabjit Singh Mann.
