I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University organized AICTE sponsored short term training program on liberary science at its main campus

Libraries store the energy that fuels the imagination. They open up windows to the world and inspire us to explore and achieve, and contribute to improving our quality of life." These are the words of great American writer and producer Sidney Sheldon (1917-2007). These words are recalled at I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University during the inaugural session of a five-day national-level short-term training program. University’s Knowledge Resource Center organized this programme sponsored by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The theme of this program is "Recent Advancement in Library Profession and Services ".

Dr.Balkar Singh, Academic Dean of the University was the Chief Guest in the inaugural session and the keynote address of the training program was read by Dr. ARD Prasad, former Professor and Head, DRTC Bangalore. In the inaugural, Prof.(Dr.) M.P. Satija was present as Guest of Honor. In his keynote address, Professor Prasad spoke in context of the new direction that library science got with the matching of new tools related to the subject. On the first day, Dr. Nirmal Kumar was given a lecture on Citation and Impact Writing and in the fourth session the topic was 3Ws of Books of Publication. 

In this five-day workshop, Dr. M.P. Satija, Dr. Sanjeev Saini, Dr. Baljinder Kaur, Dr. Jatinder Kumar, Dr. HS Chopra joined as keynote speakers. Ms. Madhu Midda, the deputy librarian of the university, was the coordinator in this workshop. University’s Registrar Dr. Sukhbir Singh Walia was also present on the occasion
