Sh. Rakesh Kumar Verma, I.A.S
A Brief Introduction
He was born on 25th April 1971 in the State of Uttar Pradesh. After completing his schooling, he graduated in Computer Science & Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi in Year 1992. He then joined the Indian Administrative Service in Punjab Cadre in Year 1993 and is the youngest officer in his batch.
After completing the training, he has served the State of Punjab in various capacities. He has been Deputy Commissioner at Kapurthala and Patiala. He has served as Director in the Departments of Transport, Technical Education and Information Technology. He has also served as Managing Director Punjab InfoTech, CEO, Punjab Municipal Infrastructure Development Company, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana and Chief Administrator, Ludhiana Development Authority.
He is presently serving as Secretary, Technical Education. He also holds the officiating charge of Vice Chancellor of Punjab Technical University. His department is responsible for formulation of various State policies and their implementation for ITIs, Polytechnics, and Engineering Colleges. He is also heading the Skill Development Mission as its Mission Director.
He also holds the additional charge of Secretary, Governance Reforms in the State. He is a firm believer in application of technology in the Government to improve Governance. He has introduced and piloted a number of citizen centric initiatives using technology during his assignments in the district and city administration. He has championed a number of governance reforms in the departments where he worked towards making them more efficient and responsive to the contemporary needs.
He is widely travelled including the countries such as USA, Canada, UK, France, Malaysia, Singapore, Pakistan, Dubai, Turkey and Morocco.
